Singapore, 2 November 2011 – Reed Exhibitions, organizers of the successful World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi, announced the launch of ASIA FUTURE ENERGY FORUM (AFEF) which will be the anchor renewable energy event at the Singapore International Energy Week 2012, from 6 – 8 November 2012 at Marina Bay Sands.
AFEF 2012 will be committed to promoting advancement of R&D, Innovation and Investment in future energy, energy efficiency and clean technologies by engaging political, business, finance, academic and industry leaders to drive innovation, business and investment opportunities in response to the growing need for sustainable energy in Asia.
The theme of ‘Powering Sustainable Innovation in Asia’ will be the central topic addressed by international speakers at the conference representing all viewpoints in the energy and sustainability debate. Alongside the international conference, AFEF 2012 will host a specialized exhibition with companies from all over the world promoting their latest products and services, in addition to Asian Renewable Energy Project Village and Round table discussions.
Mr Chee Hong Tat, Chief Executive of the Energy Market Authority (EMA), said, "While Asian economies will continue to need fossil fuels to meet their rising energy needs and rapid growth, many countries are also looking at renewable energy resources, such as solar, wind, hydro and geothermal power, as an increasing part of their energy mix. With AFEF onboard for 2012, this will complement the other energy-related events that EMA has curated for SIEW in addressing current and future challenges facing the energy sector in Asia."
Mr Ara Fernezian, Group Exhibition Director for WFES, added, “The World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi is playing a valuable role in engaging the global community in driving innovation, trade and investment opportunities. We at AFEF in Singapore, aim to play the same role and act as a platform alongside SIEW to serve the growing demand in Asia. We are therefore pleased to share our knowledge and experiences with our team in Singapore to work with the Energy Market Authority to deliver a successful AFEF event like WFES, during the Singapore International Energy Week 2012.”
Ms Michelle Lim, Managing Director of Reed Exhibitions (Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia) remarked, “There is a clear need for a compelling alternative energy event in Asia. We have a strong brand globally in WFES. The EMA’s SIEW has gained traction over the years; we have collaborated with the EMA at past editions of SIEW. The launch of AFEF will encompass all renewable, sustainable and clean energy products, services and technologies with a view to augmenting the value proposition of future energy elements within the wider ambit of SIEW.”
Reed Exhibitions currently organizes some 19 events in the energy, oil and gas sector and another nine in the environment and urban planning sector.
