Singapore, 27 March 2013 – 1. The Energy Market Authority (EMA) today announced the theme for the 2013 Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW)--"New Horizons in Energy".

2. Now into its sixth year, the annual week-long event will once again bring together energy leaders from both the public and private sectors to share their perspectives on energy opportunities and challenges. With Asia leading the global demand for energy, SIEW provides the strategic platform for energy discussions going forward.

3. Last year, some 11,000 delegates and 240 media journalists from more than 60 countries convened on SIEW, where the list of luminaries included global energy thought leaders Dato' Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui, Minister Of Energy, Green Technology And Water, Malaysia; Soulivong Daravong, Minister of Energy and Mines, Lao PDR; Maria van der Hoeven, Executive Director, International Energy Agency (IEA); and Jose Maria Figueres, Former President of Costa Rica.

4. SIEW 2013 will be held from 28 October to 1 November at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
