Winners of Asian Downstream Summit Awards 2022

Energy Market Authority Chairman Richard Lim presented the Asian Downstream Summit (ADS) Award as part of the Asian Downstream Summit (ADS) & Asian Refining Technology Conference. This was held on 26 October, in conjunction with SIEW 2022. This year, five awards were given out to individuals and organisations recognised for their outstanding industry contributions. This year's winners were acknowledged for their impact on furthering data insights and decarbonisation.

The annual ADS Award honours industry companies and professionals who have showcased outstanding performance and innovative technologies. The ADS Award is the most prominent award ceremony for Oil & Gas in the Asia Pacific industry calendar.

Young Engineer Award: Lee Kian Seng

Petronas’ Lee Kian Seng won 2022’s Young Engineer Award for his technical and leadership capabilities in developing a new revenue stream for the organisation. Among leading multiple projects, he also contributed to designing and building an enterprise data platform to accelerate the monetisation of data for the company. 

Rising Star of the Year: Hexagon

Hexagon’s Smart Digital Reality™ won Rising Star of the Year for its asset-management platform. The modelling solution combines augmented reality, physical world modelling, and smart sensors to capture and track insights for asset-intensive projects within the industrial facilities sector. Smart Digital Reality™ has enabled capital expenditure (CapEx) savings by 10 to 15%. 

Downstream Project of the Year: Project ARIES

Project ARIES by Petronas won Downstream Project of the Year for its new work-process integration system. ARIES involves engineering consultancy, plant-facing solutions, and work-process integrations. Project ARIES was also selected as the finalist for the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) lighthouse certification.

Sustainable Technology of the Year: Schneider Electric

Schneider Electric won Sustainable Technology of the Year award for its integrated solution that is capable of digitising, calculating, and reporting CO2 emissions in industrial plants. The integrated solution increases transparency of CO2 emissions data for benchmarking sustainability. This solution also serves as a first step to decarbonisation.

Innovations in Oil & Gas Digital Technology: AP Networks Asia Pacific

AP Networks Asia Pacific won the innovations in Oil & Gas Digital Technology award for its management consulting service catering to plant Shutdowns, Turnarounds, and Outages (STO) events. AP Network’s proprietary metric formula — Cost to Business Index — quantifies the total costs, risks, and safety considerations of a plant site so that site leaders have a clearer numerical figure of the plant’s STO cost.
