SIEW TechTable: Scaling Solutions Today for Energy Transformation
Opening SIEW TechTable, Low Xin Wei, Assistant Chief Executive, Energy Technologies Division, Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore, called for decisive action to scale clean energy solutions and emerging technologies.
Mr Low said that even amid political and economic headwinds, the clean energy transition is gaining momentum. Global renewable power capacity grew by more than 15 percent in 2024, while Asian markets experienced record-low costs for solar and wind power.
During his address, Mr Low reinforced Singapore’s commitment to achieve net zero by 2050, balancing sustainability with energy reliability and affordability. These efforts include expanding the country’s solar capacity, deepening cross-border cooperation to diversify energy supply, and exploring the potential of hydrogen, ammonia, geothermal, and advanced nuclear energy solutions.
