Singapore Energy Summit (SES) is qualified for 3 PDUs by PEB

The Singapore Energy Summit (SES) is a platform for strategic panel discussions on key energy issues. Featuring energy ministers and industry CEOs, the SES provides SIEW delegates with strategic insights into the current developments in the global energy landscape and how energy stakeholders could address the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Session 1: Rethinking Energy

11:00 – 12:30 hrs

Our energy landscape remains in transition with the change in dynamics of oil and gas demand and supply. Renewables continue to gain momentum as they become increasingly cost-competitive. Climate change commitments must be adhered to, and even exceeded, for a sustainable future. This panel will explore how we need to rethink policies and strategies to address current challenges whilst identifying new opportunities amidst global uncertainty.

  • In light of the current energy supply and demand dynamics, what are some of the challenges and opportunities that await?
  • How can policymakers and companies remain agile in their response to the evolving energy landscape?
  • How can Asia play a greater role in fostering greater energy cooperation and integration?

Session 2: Slow Road to Recovery? The Outlook for Oil & Gas

12:30 – 13:15 hrs

With efforts to boost prices and bring markets back to balance, oil prices appear to be on the slow road to recovery. At the same time, US shale production has increased and pipeline infrastructure projects have restarted. However, investments for future supply remain uncertain, given supply constraints amongst some producers.

  • What is the role of oil & gas in the energy mix?
  • Given global uncertainty, what is the outlook for upstream investments to secure supplies for the long-term?
  • As oil & gas companies integrate other fuel sources such as renewables, what will the future of the oil & gas industries look like?

Session 3:  Integrating Renewables

14:15 – 16:00 hrs

As the adoption of renewables continues to gain momentum, the ability of the power sector to adapt will shape our energy future. Advancements in storage technology and infrastructure to integrate renewables into the grid need to be matched by innovative business models and regulations. At the same time, digitalisation has the potential to revolutionalise the energy sector.  This panel delves into the key challenges faced by policymakers and industry in integrating renewables.

  • How can energy infrastructure be strengthened against disruptions in power supply, such as natural disasters?
  • How are energy systems being reshaped by consumers playing a greater role in their energy consumption?
  • How can policymakers ensure power sector regulations keep pace with the adoption of renewables?
  • Looking ahead, how will grid technologies and storage develop?
  • How will digitalisation evolve the grid of the future and what does this mean for businesses and consumers?

Special Address: Climate Change and Oceans

Climate change presents both a challenge and an opportunity in the transition towards a decarbonised global economy. At the same time, the ocean plays an important role as a renewable energy source with great potential. Policymakers and business leaders need to manage this transition responsibly and collectively, in order to lower carbon emissions for a more sustainable energy future.
