Seen at SIEW 2021: Stepping up the Focus on Low Carbon Energy Transition

SIEW 2021 is a hybrid event that gathers global energy stakeholders to exchange views on key energy issues. This year’s theme, "Advancing the Energy Transition", highlights the growing focus on the collective efforts to build a sustainable energy future and tap on emerging opportunities for green growth.

The event is off to a brisk start with the Singapore Energy Lecture and SIEW Opening Keynote Address. These sessions set the stage for a week of discussions on how we can reset, restructure and reinvent the energy industry worldwide.

The following agreement signings also took place during SIEW 2021:

  • Sembcorp Industries signed a Joint Development Agreement with Indonesian companies and organisations PLN Batam and PT Trisurya Mitra Bersama to explore developing a large-scale solar and energy storage project in Batam, Indonesia.
  • A consortium comprising Medco Power Indonesia, PT Batamindo Investment Cakrawala and PacificLight Power Pte Ltd signed a Joint Development Agreement for a 100MW pilot solar import project from Indonesia to Singapore.

Both agreement signing ceremonies were attended by Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Singapore and H.E. Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia.

Welcome to Day 1 of Singapore International Energy Week 2021

Singapore International Energy Summit 2021 (SIEW 2021) will commence shortly with the Singapore Energy Lecture at 9.30am, to be delivered by Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Gan Kim Yong.

Following that, H.E. Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Republic of Indonesia, and Joe Blommaert, President, Low Carbon Solutions, ExxonMobil, will deliver the SIEW Opening Keynote Address and discuss key issues around the theme, “Advancing the Energy Transition”. The session will be moderated by Valentin de Miguel, Senior Managing Director and Strategy & Consulting Lead, Growth Markets, Accenture.
