Nine engineering students were awarded this year’s Energy-Industry Scholarship (EIS) this morning. This is the largest cohort of EIS recipients since the Award was launched in 2014!

Of this year’s EIS recipients, six of them are studying electrical or mechanical engineering, two are specialising in clean energy management, and one in energy systems and management. This is an affirmation of the strong support and commitment of the industry to nurture a pipeline of up-and-coming talent for the power sector.

The EIS is open to both Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and Polytechnic students, and the recipients will join their respective sponsoring organisations upon completion of their studies.

Many oil & gas companies have recognised the urgent need to decarbonise the energy system – yet a comprehensive framework for the oil & gas industry to support a low-carbon future while simultaneously ensuring the world has enough energy to meet economic growth goals has yet to be fully developed.

The Atlantic Council and the Eurasia Group discussed this challenge and more at the SIEW Thinktank Roundtable E, designed to discuss how Southeast Asia – a region confronting the dual challenge of rising energy demand and the need to decarbonise – is evaluating the challenges and opportunities for oil & gas companies in the years ahead.
