About Sarawak Energy

Sarawak Energy is an energy developer and a vertically integrated power utility located in Sarawak. As Malaysia’s largest provider of renewable energy, our vision is to achieve sustainable growth and prosperity for Sarawak by meeting the region’s need for reliable and renewable energy.

Built on our 100 years of powering Sarawak, we recruit a multi-disciplinary workforce of 5,400 to serve a population of three million Sarawakians and more beyond our borders.

Our generation mix is predominantly renewable hydropower and complemented by indigenous coal and gas. With an installed capacity of 3,452MW from our hydroelectric plants, our investment in hydropower resulted in a 71% reduction in carbon emission intensity from 2011 to 2020.

Hydropower has also enabled us to explore alternative energy sources such as hydrogen and floating solar, launch Sarawak’s first renewable energy certificate and support the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), which is a strategy to realise Sarawak’s ambition of reaching developed status by 2030.
