The Future of the Grid conference opened today. EMA Chairman Richard Lim recapped comprehensive initiatives to transform Singapore's future grid in his keynote address.
 
SIEW Energy Insights kicked off a series of thought-provoking discussions among thought leaders and industry players. The sessions covered topics ranging from regional energy connectivity and the role of natural gas in the global energy transition, to the latest developments in sustainable energy solutions.
 
In his welcome remarks, Puah Kok Keong, Chief Executive, Energy Market Authority (EMA) highlighted that shaping the future of energy requires bold initiatives and collaboration. Aligned with this vision, EMA has awarded grants totalling $7.8 million to two companies to explore solutions that could enhance the cost-effectiveness and optimise the space required for energy storage systems.
 
Dr Daniel Gaspar, Deputy Director, Net Zero World Initiative, presented the Singapore-US Feasibility Study on Regional Energy Connectivity, outlining the economic benefits of a unified power grid.
 
Opening the Asian Downstream Summit, Low Yen Ling, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Trade and Industry, highlighted Singapore’s commitment to advancing carbon capture and low-carbon fuels for a sustainable energy future.
