gas

China’s economic slowdown has seen growth projections for the country’s natural gas demand being cut. However, amid this slowdown, China’s economic growth – nearly seven percent in 2015 – remains ahead of most of the world.

According to Forbes, emerging and inevitable climate agreements like COP21 and increased emission standards mean even more demand for gas, ushering in the “Age of Gas” that IEA has been reporting about. In 2015, China still consumed 35 percent more gas than projected in IEA’s International Energy Outlook 2010.

Gas is China’s fastest growing major fuel. Cleaner, more efficient natural gas use is integral to China’s five-year plans, and gas demand quadrupled in the past decade. Read on to find out why China’s gas demand is set to continue growing.
