SIEW 2021 Day 1 (25 October)

SIEW 2021 kicked off with the inaugural Singapore Energy Lecture, with Singapore's Minister for Trade and Industry, Gan Kim Yong, outlining how the country can capitalise on new opportunities to advance the energy transition. The SIEW Opening Keynote Address featured the perspectives of energy luminaries on the industry’s pressing issues, against the backdrop of the global energy supply crunch. Policymakers and key opinion leaders gathered at the Singapore Energy Summit for a wide-ranging discussion on topics such as the decarbonisation of the energy sector, green growth opportunities and regional interconnectivity.

SIEW 2021 Day 2 (26 October)

On Day 2, energy ministers, CEOs and thought leaders convened at the Singapore-IRENA High-Level Forum to discuss the need to finance renewables and clean energy projects across the region. Speaking at the opening of partner event Asia Clean Energy Summit, Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Singapore, announced the launch of a national standard for Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).

SIEW 2021 Day 3 (27 October)

SIEW Energy Insights featured industry experts from renowned organisations sharing insights from their latest research. The Singapore-International Energy Agency (IEA) Forum saw the Southeast Asia launch of the IEA World Energy Outlook (WEO) 2021, while a distinguished panel of speakers exchanged views on the actions needed to support the rapid growth in energy demand as Southeast Asia transitions toward a low carbon future.

SIEW 2021 Day 4 (28 October)

Day 4 of SIEW 2021 brought international energy thought leaders and industry experts together in a broad range of dynamic, in-depth discussions at the SIEW Thinktank Roundtables. With topics ranging from the relationship between consumer side participation and smart grid technologies to trade opportunities arising from ASEAN’s decarbonisation journey, speakers engaged in a rich exchange of ideas on how Southeast Asia can step up its energy transition in a resilient and sustainable way.

SIEW 2021 Day 5 (29 October)

Ms Low Yen Ling, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Singapore, kicked off Youth@SIEW with a call for youths to push boundaries in transforming Singapore’s energy future, while tertiary students and industry leaders engaged in meaningful discussions around energy innovation and co-creation. The SIEW Thinktank Roundtables continued with more insightful conversations, while Future of the Grid gathered thought leaders to explore the strategies needed to transform Singapore’s future grid.
