A RESILIENT AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY FUTURE

The theme for SIEW 2022 is A Resilient and Sustainable Energy Future. Post COP26, there is strong momentum for countries to do more to decarbonise their economies and ride the green wave to reduce emissions. In addition to sustainable energy sources, our energy systems must also be resilient. The ongoing energy crisis has emphasised the importance of energy security and some countries have prioritised this above decarbonisation initiatives. Against this backdrop, SIEW 2022 will discuss policies, frameworks, and best practices to accelerate the transition to a more resilient, greener and more inclusive energy future. It will also examine the opportunities and challenges as the region scales up investments and regional connectivity for a green economy.

   SIEW SUMMIT

The Singapore Energy Summit (SES) facilitates high-level dialogues on energy issues centred on this year’s theme, “A Resilient and Sustainable Energy”.

Securing a Resilient and Sustainable Energy Future
This session will address how regional governments and stakeholders can work together to ensure a sustainable and resilient energy future. Speakers will present their perspectives on the priorities and action needed to drive the dual goals of energy security and energy transition amidst the evolving geopolitical developments. There will also be discussions on the policies and frameworks to transform industry, economy, and society to progress towards a secure and sustainable energy transition.

Accelerating Low-Carbon Solutions
This session will address how governments and corporates can catalyse the development of supply chains for low-carbon solutions such as hydrogen and carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS). Speakers will also share their perspectives on the role that innovation plays in improving technical aspects and driving down costs of low-carbon solutions. There will also be discussions on what roles technologies such as geothermal and nuclear may have in the energy transition.

Mobilising Greener Financing for Energy Infrastructure
This session will address how greater sustainable private financing and growing corporate net zero commitments can come together to achieve low carbon goals earlier. Speakers will share their perspectives on facilitating green financing for energy infrastructure developments, including how these investments would lead to more renewable energy projects and grid renewals, and interconnections in the region.
