SIEW 2023 KEY HIGHLIGHTS

SIEW Week 2023 has concluded, and what an amazing journey it's been! A big thanks to all our 16,000 and more participants from around the world who made this event an incredible success.

A quick recap of our highlights as follows:




Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Lawrence Wong, announced Singapore LNG (SLNG) will develop a second liquefied natural gas terminal. This is to meet Singapore's growing demand for natural gas and enhance the country's energy security.

Minister for Trade and Industry, Gan Kim Yong, unveiled Singapore's strategy for a net zero energy system, including centralising gas procurement and supply.

Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr Tan See Leng shared five key areas for Singapore's clean energy success, which include making cross-border electricity trading a reality.

Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Low Yen Ling highlighted Liquefied Natural Gas and hydrogen's pivotal role in Singapore's energy future.

Energy Market Authority Chairman, Richard Lim, shared insights on making a smarter, more resilient grid. Among them, tapping on electric vehicles as flexible energy assets.

A stunning performance featuring 500 drones illustrated Singapore’s and Asia’s push for the Energy Transition towards a Net Zero World over Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade, witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawarence Wong, and Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng.

Low Yen Ling, Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and Ministry of Trade and Industry, shared in her SIEW Live Interview that Singapore's clean energy sector is booming, with an 80% increase in workforce projected by 2032. She emphasised the role of youth in combating climate change and encouraged them to choose sustainability as a career path to help achieve a net zero future.
