Views from Singapore-IRENA Forum: Renewable Pathways to Achieving Global Net-Zero Ambitions

Global energy leaders convened at the Singapore-IRENA High-Level Forum to explore the need to invest in new renewable technologies and clean energy projects.

Government ministers and industry leaders at the Singapore-IRENA High-Level Forum discussed the different pathways to scale up current clean energy investments and ensure an inclusive and just energy transition.

Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower, Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Singapore, delivered his Opening Remarks on the nation’s efforts to drive the energy transition.

Francesco La Camera, Director-General of International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), was next to share his perspectives. He pointed out that renewable energy plays an instrumental role in achieving a more sustainable energy future—and that the clean energy transition journey has only just begun.

H.E. Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia, provided an overview of measures to mobilise the nation’s green investment and boost energy transition.

Discussing the issues from the lens of developments in ASEAN and the EU, H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary-General of ASEAN, and H.E. Kadri Simson, Commissioner for Energy, European Union, touched on key regional focus areas for green investment.
