As power systems grow more complex and decarbonisation efforts accelerate, the role of AI is expanding from experimental tools to critical infrastructure. From grid management and operations to renewable energy integration, the world is entering an era where AI is important to energy transformation.
The IEA’s Energy and AI Report 2025 projected that AI-enabled applications could unlock USD 110 billion in annual operation savings and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 1.4 gigatonnes by 2035. However, these benefits require governments and institutions to address challenges around data access, infrastructure readiness, policy alignment and digital trust. Panellists will explore how we can create the right enabling environment for AI in energy, through better policy coordination, cross-border collaboration and data governance.
