DProf. Akihiko Yokoyama obtained BS, MS and PhD all from the University of Tokyo in 1979, 1981 and 1984 respectively. He had been with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Systems, the University of Tokyo in charge of power systems engineering since 1984. He was visiting scholar at University of Texas, Arlington and University of California, Berkeley during the period of 1987 to 1989. He retired from the University of Tokyo in March, 2022 and became Professor Emeritus. His research focused on power system operation and control, renewable energy integration into grid and smart grid. He has been Chairman of the Energy and Gas Market Surveillance Commission, METI since Sept., 2021. He is also Chairman of Japanese National Committee of TC8 and TC 123, IEC.
