Dr Tharinya Supasa works as Project Lead Energy Policy Southeast Asia (SEA) at Agora Energiewende, currently working on a regional energy transition project in Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia) abbreviated as CASE (Clean, Affordable and Safe Energy for Southeast Asia) and Thailand-German Cooperation on Energy Mobility and Climate Change (TGC-EMC) to support Thailand Energy Transition in line with the Government’s 2050 carbon neutrality goal. With colleagues, she is developing and implementing demand-driven research and policy papers, and providing capacity building to advise key energy policies to advance the energy transition toward decarbonization in Southeast Asia.

Tharinya was the Chief Editor and Lead Modeler of the 6th ASEAN Energy Outlook (AEO6), the flagship study to examine the Renewable and Energy Intensity target set in the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) phase II: 2021-2025. She contributes as Co-author in thematic chapter of the 7th ASEAN Energy Outlook (AEO7) launched in 40th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting in September 2022. In addition, she is working on the on-going ASEAN Power Grid Advancement Program (APG-AP) project under CASE-ACE-ETP agreement.

She studied Energy Engineering and applied an energy-economic models during her Doctoral study and Postdoc at National Central University. She got the Outstanding Dissertation Award by Taiwan Association of Environmental and Resource Economics (TAERE). In addition, she holds a master’s degree in Supply and Logistics Engineering from Warwick University, and bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Chiang Mai University.
