Before his current position, Hon. Dr. Biteko was the Minister for Minerals for almost five years, after being promoted from the position of Deputy Minister of Minerals which he served for one year. He is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Bukombe Constituency in Geita Region.

Hon. Dr. Biteko holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Dodoma (2021). Prior to that, he graduated with Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from St. Augustine University of Tanzania in 2013 and 2010 respectively.

He has also held various leadership positions over the years in different capacities including the Chairperson of Tanzania Teachers Association (TTU) for Geita Region; and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals.
