Jonathan Cobb

Senior Programme Lead, Climate
World Nuclear Association

Dr Jonathan Cobb coordinates the Net Zero Nuclear initiative, which calls for unprecedented collaboration between governments and industry to at least triple global nuclear capacity to help achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

The Net Zero Nuclear initiative is the nuclear industry’s response to the Declaration to Triple Nuclear Capacity, an agreement signed by 25 countries at the United Nation’s COP28 climate change event in Dubai in 2023.

Dr Cobb has worked in the nuclear energy industry for 30 years. He began his career at BNFL’s Sellafield nuclear site working in R&D, before moving on to Marketing, Competitive Intelligence and Corporate Strategy. He joined World Nuclear Association in 2006 to focus on nuclear energy’s role in mitigating climate change, and the issues that would need to be addressed to optimise nuclear’s contribution, such as policy, financing and regulation.

Dr Cobb is the lead author of the World Nuclear Performance Report, an annual publication providing information on trends in nuclear construction and generation.
