Chung Keng Yeow is the Director of Singapore Nuclear Research and Safety Institute (SNRSI) which was established to concentrate expertise and knowledge in nuclear technology and safety in a single institute, and sustain a critical mass of manpower engaged in a range of nuclear-related activities relevant to Singapore. He holds a joint appointment as an associate professor of the Physics Department in the National University of Singapore (NUS).
He obtained BSc degree in Physics from NUS and his MSc and PhD degrees from Stanford University in Applied Physics under the supervision of Nobel laureate Professor Steven Chu. He has been with NUS Physics Department since his return to Singapore in 2002 and served as its Deputy Head prior to joining SNRSI. During his initial years at SNRSI, he led the Nuclear Safety Analysis Team to study the severe accidents in nuclear power reactors. Since taking over as the director of the institute in 2018, he spent most of his time overseeing various research projects in the institute and collaborations with international partners.
At the international level, he serves as a member of the Steering Committee of the International Nuclear Science and Technology Academy (INSTA) set up by IAEA to promote education in Nuclear Science and Technology at the tertiary level.
