Jian Ming Cheang serves as Director for New Markets Development APAC and General Manager of EDF power solutions Singapore. He leads EDF’s strategic push into Southeast Asian markets where the company currently has no established presence, focusing on early-stage development of energy infrastructure across renewables, storage, transmission and thermal assets. As General Manager, he oversees operations in Singapore and drives stakeholder engagement to anchor EDF’s regional footprint and unlock new opportunities in emerging economies across the region.

Previously, he led EDF’s market entry into Australia, supporting the build-out of foundational teams and advancing over US$50M in development expenditure across energy storage and transmission projects, including pumped hydro, compressed air energy storage, concentrated solar thermal and high voltage transmission infrastructure. He also spearheaded an energy import initiative into Singapore at the pilot stage and delivered commercially validated decarbonization models.

Earlier in his career, Jian Ming held leadership roles at REC Solar, driving regional business development and technical innovation across the Asia-Pacific region. He holds an MSc in Advanced Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London.
