The Asian Downstream Summit Exhibition is buzzing with discussion and activity.

New Approaches for a Changing Energy Landscape

From the carbon-free potential of hydrogen to the “cheap vs green” dilemma, thought leaders discussed the changing energy landscape at the first round of the SIEW Thinktank Roundtables this morning.
At the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ) roundtable, panellists discussed how hydrogen can contribute to the global energy transition, and possible approaches towards the use of a carbon-free hydrogen economy.

Highlights from the 6th Gas Asia Summit

The 6th Annual Gas Asia Summit (GAS) opened on 31 October, fully packed with over 300 policy makers and industry leaders. H.E. Dr Arcandra Tahar, Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia, and Ng How Yue, Chairman of Energy Market Authority, headlined the summit with insights on dynamic global gas developments, opportunities in Singapore and Indonesian markets.
Keynote speakers H.E. Lynn McDonald, High Commissioner of Canada to Singapore; Martin Houston, Vice Chairman of Tellurian; and Philip Olivier, General Manager of Global LNG of Total spoke about the immense demand growth, Canadian and North American supplies, the energy transition and the role of gas.
Alongside the presentations and panel discussions, the GAS exhibition opened. It features businesses from diverse sectors of the gas energy landscape such as liquified natural gas, energy and resources law, and maritime and ship management.
The exhibition is located at Peony 1 on Level 4 of the Sands Expo & Convention Centre.

The 5th edition of the Asia Clean Energy Summit (ACES) kicked off on 31 October as part of Singapore International Energy Week. ACES 2018 was officially opened by Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR); Mr Edwin Khew, Chairman of the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS); and Mr Adnan Amin, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency.
