As countries pursue net-zero ambitions while strengthening energy security, nuclear energy is re-emerging as a reliable, low-carbon source of electricity. Global momentum has accelerated following COP28, with growing interest in advanced nuclear technologies, particularly Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), alongside greater support from international financial institutions and renewed investment in nuclear infrastructure.

Against this backdrop, the Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are pleased to convene the inaugural IAEA @ SIEW Forum with the theme “Atoms for Asia: Unlocking a Secure & Low-Carbon Future”. Bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, financiers and experts, the forum will examine how ASEAN and the wider region can safely and responsibly unlock the potential of nuclear energy through enabling policies, financing, innovation, and international cooperation.

The discussions will explore the technologies shaping the future of nuclear power, the regulatory and institutional capabilities required for successful deployment, and the role of the IAEA's Milestones Approach in supporting newcomer countries.

The panel will explore how countries can position themselves to successfully deploy advanced nuclear technologies.
