Natural gas continues to anchor global energy systems, providing reliability, flexibility and affordability as energy demand continues to grow. At the same time, new pathways such as biomethane, hydrogen-ready infrastructure, carbon capture and other emerging fuels are expanding the role of gas within evolving energy systems. As energy systems become more complex, they must also be adaptive, integrated and future-ready to respond to changing needs.

This session will bring together global industry leaders to discuss how natural gas can strengthen energy security while supporting future energy needs. Conversations at this panel will explore market trends, technological innovation and investment strategies shaping the future of gas across integrated energy systems.

Panel questions:

  • Natural gas has long played a central role in global energy systems. As electricity demand rises and climate ambitions grow, what role must gas play in the new energy economy?

  • Many energy scenarios still see natural gas playing a significant role in future energy systems. What will define the role of gas in the global energy mix over the next two decades?

  • Governments are trying to balance energy security, affordability and climate goals. How are organisations navigating these priorities when making long-term investment decisions?

  • We are seeing growing momentum around carbon capture, hydrogen and low-carbon fuels. Which technologies will have the greatest impact in shaping the future of the gas sector?
