About X Energy

X Energy, LLC (“X-energy”) was founded in 2009 and is a leading global developer of advanced small modular reactors (SMRs) and coated particle nuclear fuels. X-energy’s flagship design is the Xe-100™ Reactor Module, a Generation IV, 80-megawatt electric (MWe)/200 megawatt thermal (MWth) high-temperature, gas-cooled nuclear reactor that utilizes tri-structural isotropic (TRISO) fuel kernels, regarded as the safest and most proliferation resistant nuclear fuel type available. X-energy’s wholly owned subsidiary, TRISO-X, has operated a pilot-scale nuclear fuel fabrication facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, since 2016, and has begun construction on the nation’s inaugural TRISO-X Fuel Fabrication Facility (TX-1). TX-1 will be the first 10 CFR 70 Category II fuel facility in the United States dedicated exclusively to high-assay, low-enriched uranium (HALEU)-based reactor fuel. X-energy seeks to redefine the nuclear industry with a new model of cross-sectoral partnership with industrial leaders, technology giants, and traditional power utilities that share a commitment to bring clean, safe, and affordable energy technologies to the market as quickly as possible.
