Spotlighting Swedish Energy Technologies for ASEAN’s Energy Future

Connecting capabilities, capital and projects across Sweden and ASEAN

As Singapore accelerates its energy transition, it faces a defining challenge: how to secure reliable, low-carbon power while managing surging demand from a growing population and increasing business demands from industrials. Sweden, as a global leader in nuclear innovation and grid modernisation, with one of the highest shares of fossil-free electricity in the world, is ready to offer proven technologies and expertise to partner on that journey.

Building on the strong foundation of Singapore–Sweden energy collaboration, this forum aims to deepen Sweden’s engagement at SIEW while strengthening connections between Swedish energy stakeholders –across government, industry, and SMEs –and key partners in Singapore. This forum aims to explore where Swedish energy capabilities can plug directly into Singapore’s energy roadmap, from next-generation nuclear to resilient power grids.

Key Discussions:

  • Turning Sweden-Singapore partnerships into concrete, on the ground projects
  • Sweden’s small modular reactor (SMR) journey, and what it means for a new-market entrant like Singapore
  • The safety, regulatory and public-trust frameworks needed to introduce advanced nuclear into a dense, land-scarce environment like Singapore
  • Keeping the grid stable and reliable as electricity demand surges from increased residential and industrial demand
  • Building the technical, regulatory and workforce capacity needed to bring new energy technologies from pilot to operation
Time (GMT +8) Programme

09:30 – 09:35 hrs

Welcome Remarks by EMA

  • Energy Market Authority

09:35 – 09:40 hrs

Welcome remarks from Singapore

  • Swedish Energy Agency

09:40 – 09:50 hrs

Keynote: Engineering the Sweden-Singapore energy partnership

  • Project spotlight on ongoing collaborations between Sweden and Singapore, including an industry perspective on how Swedish energy technology has contributed to Singapore’s power sector, and how the partnership has evolved in Singapore

09:50 – 10:30 hrs

Panel on Nuclear: Advancing nuclear energy partnerships

  • Sweden runs one of the most mature nuclear programs globally, spanning reactor operation, next-generation SMR developments, to nuclear waste management. Singapore, meanwhile, is at an early stage of evaluating whether and how advanced nuclear could fit into the energy mix
  • This panel puts Swedish nuclear expertise across the full value chain to understand how a realistic pathway for Singapore looks like, based on Sweden’s decades of experience

10:30 – 11:10 hrs

Panel on Power Grids: Strengthening grid infrastructure and resilience

  • Sweden has run a stable, reliable grid for decades while carrying one of the world’s highest shares of fossil-free electricity. Singapore’s grid is entering its own stress-test era with industrial growth, data centers demand, and transport electrification driving demand up, alongside a push towards renewables and regional interconnection
  • This panel brings Swedish grid technology providers with Singapore stakeholders to discuss what grid resilience actually requires in practice and where Swedish technology and know-how can plug directly into Singapore’s own grid modernisation plans

11:10 – 11:15 hrs

Closing remarks

  • Business Sweden
