Day 5 Wrap-Up: Ending SIEW 2025 on a High Note

On the final day of SIEW 2025, industry leaders engaged in a series of discussions on the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the low-carbon energy transition at the final SIEW Thinktank Roundtable sesions.
During Youth@SIEW, H.E. Siow Huang Gan, Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Ministry of Trade and Industry, Republic of Singapore, shared how Singapore is doing its part to tackle climate change and the impact of the energy transformation on opportunities in the sector. She also encouraged students to explore how they can contribute to the country's energy transformation.
With that, we have come to the end of SIEW 2025! As this year’s edition draws to a close, we would like to thank our partners, sponsors, supporting organisations, and delegates for making SIEW 2025 truly exceptional!
Do keep a lookout for more insights and key takeaways from SIEW 2025 in the weeks ahead.

SIEW Thinktank Roundtables: Opportunities and Challenges with AI Proliferation
Artificial intelligence (AI) has evolved from academic study to a trillion-dollar industry, driving unprecedented growth in data centre electricity demand. Yet, AI also offers transformative solutions for energy efficiency and emissions reduction.

At SIEW Thinktank Roundtables, Mary Warlick, Deputy Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), presented the agency’s comprehensive analysis of AI's impact on global energy systems. The presentation examined data centre electricity consumption patterns, infrastructure challenges, critical mineral requirements, and AI's potential to optimise energy systems—revealing both the scale of the challenge and the magnitude of opportunities ahead. SIEW Thinktank Roundtables: Harnessing the Power of AI Responsibly for a Sustainable Energy Future
Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the global energy landscape, unlocking opportunities to enhance efficiency and accelerate decarbonisation. Yet as AI advances, its growing energy needs are adding pressure to energy systems worldwide.

The SIEW Thinktank Roundtable on 'The AI-Energy Nexus' opened with a call to harness AI's transformative power responsibly. Speakers also underscored the need to manage its growing energy footprint
Jonathan Goh, Director, External Relations, Energy Market Authority (EMA), highlighted AI's potential to accelerate the transition to low-carbon energy. He said AI can optimise how energy is generated, distributed, and consumed.
He cited the International Energy Agency (IEA) noting that AI applications could generate up to US$110 billion in annual operational savings. They could also cut 1.4 gigatonnes of carbon emissions by 2035. He added that achieving these gains will require stronger data accessibility, infrastructure readiness, and policy coordination.
