Dom LaVigne

Director, Government & Public Affairs
Asia Pacific/Middle East

Mr Dom LaVigne's role at Methanol Institute, to support the methanol industry in Asia and the Middle East, puts him in a position to talk about the Asian methanol market, which is poised for robust expansion led by Chinese demand. Methanol has been used as a transport fuel for many years, and it has been said that bio-methanol is a very good way to power cars because it has a very good CO2 profile that's much better than diesel or gasoline.

Mr LaVigne joined the Methanol Institute in September 2011, and is based in the Institute's Singapore office. With 18 years of senior management, government relations, and foreign direct investment (FDI) experience in the Asia-Pacific region, he has lived and worked in Asia for the last 11 years. His role with Methanol Institute is to support the methanol industry in Asia and the Middle East by developing government relations initiatives and outreach, and by helping to raise the visibility of the Institute and its members among policymakers, media, the private sector, and consumers. His experience in Asia includes eight years of senior management roles at the American Chambers of Commerce (AmChams) in Singapore, Malaysia, and Afghanistan. Prior to this, Mr LaVigne had lived and worked in Washington, DC for more than seven years at the White House and for a leading North American trade association.
