Brunei National Energy Research Institute (BNERI)
Dr. Romeo Pacudan is the Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Brunei National Energy Research Institute (BNERI), a policy think tank focusing on national and regional energy sector issues. He is leading BNERI’s strategic and technical research activities on power sector policies, sustainable energies, energy cooperation and market integration.
He has more than 20 years of work experience in the energy sector, has been engaged on numerous number of energy projects as electricity/energy economist, policy, regulatory and planning expert and has also worked on various assignments from various governments, the private sector and international organizations such as the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, German International Cooperation, French Agency for Development, USAID, UN organizations, EU and other European bilateral/multilateral financing institutions.
Prior to joining BNERI, he has worked as Senior Energy Advisor at the German International Cooperation (GIZ) in Eschborn, Germany; Senior Energy Expert at Lahmeyer International GmbH in Bad Vilbel, Germany; Senior Energy and Climate Change Expert at the Risoe National Laboratory in Roskilde, Denmark; Senior Energy Policy Expert at the Civil Engineering Foundation-International Institute for Energy Conservation in Bangkok, Thailand, and Assistant Professor in Energy Program at the Asian Institute of Technology also in Bangkok, Thailand.
Romeo Pacudan has a doctorate degree in Applied Economics (specializing in Energy Economics) from the University of Grenoble, France and master of engineering in Energy Technology from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand. He is one of the researchers recognized to contribute to the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 2007.
