Leaders from the energy industry attending Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2015 commemorated the country’s 50 years of independence and energy achievements at the Jubilee Reception on Monday evening.

“Over the last 50 years, Singapore has grown from strength to strength and is now a major hub for trade, business, finance and talent,” Minister of Trade and Industry (Industry) S. Iswaran said at the event for about 550 people at the ArtScience Museum.

“SIEW has also grown over the course of eight years to become a premier forum for key energy discussions because of your candid and generous sharing of perspectives and insights.”

The minister paid tribute to Singapore’s energy pioneers, companies and the union of power and gas employees for their contributions.

“They have worked tirelessly to build our infrastructure, operate our power plants, maintain our gas pipelines and strengthen our grid, allowing us to enjoy one of the most stable and reliable power systems in the world,” Iswaran said.
