REthinking Energy: Renewable Energy and Climate Change

energy

On the heels of the Paris agreement, renewable energy has gained much momentum. We are at a stage whereby transitioning to a sustainable energy future by 2030 is technically feasible and economically viable.

Renewable energy offers an immediate means to decarbonise the global energy mix and play a pivotal role in keeping the average rise in global temperatures below 2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, promoting renewables brings economic growth and sustainable development. With the right policies, renewable energy could generate more than 24 million jobs worldwide by 2030.

IRENA recently released the second edition of its flagship report “REthinking Energy”, which explores how the transition to renewables could help limit global warming and lays out five clear actions that are needed to support this transition.
