On Earth Day, 22 April 2016, 175 countries signed the Paris Climate agreement. Of these, about 15 have already ratified the agreement. The positive support for the agreement signals political determination but tough challenges lie ahead, according to BBC’s analysis.
These challenges include ratification, financial commitments, the fact that each country’s actions are voluntary, and more importantly – political events outside of the UN’s control. Read more about these challenges here.
