Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo

Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo is a veteran Indian politician serving as the 5th Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha. A senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he took office in June 2024 under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Alongside his role as Deputy CM, he manages two crucial state portfolios: the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment and the Ministry of Energy. Singh Deo’s career is distinguished by extensive administrative experience. During the BJD-BJP coalition government from 2000 to 2009, he managed key ministries, including Industry, Urban Development, and Public Enterprise. His execution of these roles provided him with deep expertise in state infrastructure, policy-making, and economic planning. Beyond legislative achievements, he successfully led the state unit of the BJP as its President from 2013 to 2016 and currently serves on the party’s National Executive. As Deputy Chief Minister, Singh Deo focuses heavily on expanding Odisha's rural economy, upgrading cold storage infrastructures, and fast-tracking regional power projects.
