Soichi Morimoto

Soichi Morimoto is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ). Since 2021, he has been developing a carbon neutrality roadmap for ASEAN using an energy system model under the Asia Energy Transition Initiative (AETI) and the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) framework. He has contributed to all stages of the project, including conducting modeling analyses, presenting findings to and engaging in discussions with ASEAN countries, and preparing reports. He presented ASEAN's carbon neutrality roadmap at ASEAN-Japan Business Week 2022. He also contributed to the analysis and drafting of the International Energy Agency's (IEA) 2023 report, Decarbonisation Pathways for Southeast Asia. He holds a Master of Engineering in the Department of Environmental Engineering, Kyoto University (2013).
