Youth@SIEW 2013

A key event for Youth@SIEW 2013 was the well-received “In Dialogue with Youth” forum with our Second Minister S Iswaran. Over 200 students participated in the lively Q&A dialogue and shared their perspectives on energy conservation and sustainability, careers in energy sector and energy security. The dialogue featured industry speakers:

  • Neil McGregor, CEO, SLNG and
  • Darrell Zhang, Founder, Intraix 

Nadia A. Samdin, a SMU law graduate moderated the well-received dialogue. Students highly appreciated this separate platform to have a free and lively dialogue surrounding energy issues. The forum also attracted the attendance of Energy Ministers from Brunei and Queensland.

In its second edition, the “Youth for Energy” Video Competition garnered an overwhelming response with over 80,000 public votes cast online, a sharp increase from the 10,000 votes gathered on 2012. The competition drew a total of 43 entries, more than doubling the 18 entries in 2012. The entries ranged from secondary schools, junior colleges, and tertiary institutions.
