SIEW 2016 Launch

The Energy Market Authority of Singapore will be launching the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2016 on Wednesday, 23 March. SIEW’s theme and exciting line up for 2016 will be unveiled at the event.

Setting the scene for discussions ahead at SIEW, Mr Neil Atkinson of the International Energy Agency will present insights from the Medium-Term Oil Market Report. You will also hear from energy experts who will share their perspectives on the SIEW 2016 theme and the outlook ahead.

About the Speakers:

Neil Atkinson has more than thirty years’ experience analysing oil markets. He began his career in 1979 working for Petroleos de Venezuela and in 1998 he moved on to Platts, with subsequent roles at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, Energy intelligence Group, KBC Energy Economics and at Informa plc where Mr Atkinson was Director, Data monitor Energy and Head of Analysis for Lloyd’s List Intelligence. He joined the IEA as Head of the Oil Industry & Markets Division in 2016. Mr Atkinson is a regular contributor to energy conferences and to TV and radio with more than 300 appearances for various media outlets. He was Honorary Secretary of the British Institute of Energy Economics from 1992-2002.

David Hewitt is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse in the Equity Research Division, based in Singapore. He is the Co-head of Global Oil & Gas Research, with primary responsibility for the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining the asset management industry Mr. Hewitt worked in the oil industry for 18 years, initially with Texaco, then Caltex and finally Chevron. He has been based in the Asia Pacific region for more than 15 years, with experience in the upstream, downstream and mid-stream gas sectors of the industry including 5 years leading LNG negotiations in region. David holds an Economics degree from the University of Staffordshire.

Based in Singapore, Sri is the co-anchor of CNBC’s Capital Connection and an experienced business and financial markets correspondent. Capital Connection, broadcast simultaneously from Asia and Europe, gives viewers a reading on Asia’s markets mid-day and prepares them for the European trading day. Specializing in commodities since 1997, Sri follows global energy developments closely. He compiles a popular weekly oil market survey for the network aimed at better informing the investment community on near-term price direction.
