Panel Discussion

The unprecedented global health crisis will significantly impact how we shape our low carbon energy future. While emissions may have fallen sharply due to global lockdowns, it is likely only temporary. Therefore, we must urgently decarbonise the way we produce, distribute and consume energy. At the same time, we need to ensure energy security, resilience, market stability and flexibility. Against this backdrop, the panel will discuss how we can collaboratively transition to our low carbon future.

  • What will the energy transition look like for Asia?
  • How do we ensure energy security and resilience as we move to a low carbon energy system? How about market stability and flexibility?
  • What is the role of regional grids and interconnectivity in the low carbon energy transition?
  • What are the challenges and opportunities as we transform our energy systems towards a low carbon energy future?
  • How can governments, industry and the public come together to create our low carbon energy future?

Panel Discussion

In the wake of the pandemic, oil prices have also fallen sharply due to a decrease in demand resulting in a supply glut. Construction on new renewable energy projects have also been put on hold. Many are predicting a global slowdown in economic growth. This panel will explore what are the implications for the energy sector and opportunities this presents to build a low carbon economy.

  • How best can we structure the economy to support the transition to a low carbon energy system?
  • What are some opportunities ahead to re-structure and green our economy in the wake of the pandemic?
  • How will we finance changes to our infrastructure to support a low carbon economy?
  • What do these changes mean for the power, oil & gas and renewable energy sectors?
  • How will energy-intensive sectors evolve, such as transport, logistics and manufacturing?

Panel Discussion

As we move closer to 2030, decisive action must be taken to keep global temperature rise within 2 degrees Celsius. To meet climate change commitments, it is critical that we leverage on low-carbon alternatives and solutions such as hydrogen, carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS) and energy efficiency. This session will explore how innovation in the areas of technology, design and business models could help us achieve a low carbon future.

  • How will innovations in these areas helps us achieve a low carbon energy future?
  • What are the drivers for low carbon technology innovation?
  • How can we encourage investments to ensure continual innovation?
  • What are some of the potential needle movers that will facilitate the low carbon transition?
  • What are some demand and supply side energy innovations that we can tap on?
