Solar power garnered US$161 billion in new investment in 2015, more than natural gas and coal combined. According to The Economist, the developing world provides a promising indicator of solar’s future.

For the first time last year, developing countries attracted more investment in renewable energy than developed countries. China now leads the world in installed solar capacity and along with India, plans to add about 100GW in the next four and six years respectively.
