Highlights from SG-IRENA Forum: Powering Net Zero with Green Finance

Global energy leaders convened at the Singapore-IRENA High-Level Forum to take stock of and identify green financing pathways in realising the full potential of end-use decarbonisation technologies on the road to net zero. Here are the key highlights.

Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr Tan See Leng, opened the Singapore-IRENA High-Level Forum with his Welcome Remarks. This shared about the Singapore Government’s support for renewable energy projects. He affirmed the importance of the Singapore-IRENA Forum as a crucial thought leadership platform in the energy sector.

Next, Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and Christophe Inglin, Vice-Chairman of the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS), gave their Opening Addresses.

Following the Opening Addresses, Nicholas Wagner, Programme Officer with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), presented the findings of the 2nd ASEAN RE Outlook Report.

In the first session on "Scaling Decarbonisation Technologies" presented by Sarawak Energy, panellists discussed how public and private sectors can facilitate and scale the deployment of low-carbon decarbonisation technologies, such as hydrogen and CCUS.

The second panel discussion, presented by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Group, saw speakers address how global business leaders, policymakers, and investors can be leaders in bridging the gaps in green energy financing, so that the energy transition can truly go global.
