Session 1: Securing Gas Supply for Asia’s Energy Transition

As Asia continues to balance economic growth with decarbonisation objectives, natural gas remains an important part of the region’s energy mix. The growing demand for LNG, combined with evolving supply dynamics and contracting structures, is reshaping how countries approach fuel security and affordability.

This session will explore the outlook for gas supply in Asia, including LNG market developments, contract structures, and the role of suppliers and buyers in ensuring stable and flexible fuel availability. It will also examine how gas markets are adapting to changing demand patterns and the implications for investment and long-term supply security.

Its role is increasingly shaped by the need to balance intermittent generation, meet peak demand, and ensure resilience in the face of supply and price volatility.

This session will examine the evolving role of gas in Asia’s energy security strategy, including its interaction with renewable energy growth, grid stability needs, and long-term transition pathways. It will also explore how countries are managing the trade-offs between affordability, reliability, and decarbonisation in their energy systems.
