Ms Brenda Smith is a keen proponent of the application of LNG in the transportation sector. She is a Board Member of the International Association of Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV Global) and a Vice President of the Asia Pacific Natural Gas Vehicle Association as well as a member of ANGVA's Safety Advisory Panel. She also sits on two ISO Working Groups developing standards for LNG vehicle fuelling stations and for cryogenic vessel design and construction.
Ms Smith is a cryogenics engineer who works as a consultant in process design and process safety management for gas processes and applications, particularly those involving cryogenic gases, and most importantly, LNG. She is a highly-respected HAZOP study Chairman and is experienced in a full range of risk assessment techniques.
Much of her work is on small-scale LNG liquefaction plants, truck loading facilities, satellite stations and vehicle fuelling stations. Many of the LNG plants use stranded gas, biogas or other alternative energy sources as the feed.
Ms Smith graduated in Chemical Engineer from Imperial College, London where she specialised in cryogenics and mathematical modelling. She has over 30 years of experience in plant design, construction, commissioning, troubleshooting, operations, maintenance and safety and risk management. She has worked in Europe, South America and Asia and is currently based in Hong Kong.
