Dr Christoph Weber is a multifaceted renewable energy promoter and entrepreneur with a thorough international profile.
Dr Weber is Founder and CEO of JATRO AG (Germany), JATRO Biomatrix S.A.R.L. (Luxembourg), JATRO Singapore Pte Ltd. and PT JATRO Waterland (Indonesia), a group of international renewable energy companies focusing on the commercialisation of sustainable biofuels and alternative jet fuel, as well as the conversion of biomass into electricity, organic fertiliser and animal feed. With a strong foothold in technology and genetics, JATRO is rolling out commercial-size Jatropha and energy crop biofuel plantations across Southeast Asia.
Before entering the biofuel sector, Dr Weber held various senior management positions at investment banks in New York, London, Shanghai and Hong Kong. During his career with German Allianz Group, he was heading the Investment Banking & Capital Markets China division for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in Shanghai and Beijing. Prior to his move to Asia, he worked for Allianz Group's investment banking arm in New York, London and Frankfurt.
He is a former Vice Chairman and Founder of stock exchange NASDAQ Germany. During his tenure with the European Commission, Directorate General XV, Dr Weber played a crucial part in the concluding stages of the Uruguay Round negotiations on trade in financial services in Brussels and Geneva. He launched his professional career as a lawyer for international banking and business law, first for Stikeman Elliott, Toronto and then Clifford Chance, Frankfurt.
He has a PhD (Dr jur) from the University of Muenster and holds a Master of Law (LLM) from McGill University, Montreal. He graduated in law from the University of Freiburg and London School of Economics.
