Prof Michio Kondo will be speaking on "PV Modules: An Overview of Reliability and Quality Assurance Issues". He heads the Research Center for Photovoltaic Technologies in its aim to investigate device and system technologies in collaboration with private sectors, primary reference cell calibration and neutral characterisation of devices and systems, and fundamental researches for next-generation innovative devices.

Prof Kondo graduated with a PhD in engineering in Osaka University in 1987, after getting a BSc from Kyoto University in 1980. He is presently the Director of the Research Center for Photovoltaics at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. Prior to that, from 2001 to 2004, he was Deputy Director of the Research Initiative for Thin Film Silicon Solar Cells at the Institute.

From 1997-2001, he was Sub Leader of the Thin Film Silicon Solar Cells Super Lab at the Electrotechnical Laboratory, Agency of Industrial Science and Technology. Between 1993 and 1997, he was Senior Research Scientist, Non-equilibrium Material Section at the Agency. He started as Research Associate at The Institute for Solid State Physics of the The University of Tokyo from 1987-1993.
