As Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Dato' Sri Peter Chin has been looking at investment opportunities and moves to develop renewable energy sources for the country. Malaysia is making strides in diversifying its energy sources with incentives to harness its natural resources and tap its renewable energy potential.
Dato' Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui was appointed as the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water on 10 April 2009. Before that, he was the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities. He called to the Bar at Gray's Inns, London, in 1971. He returned to Sarawak and joined the law firm, M/s Wan Ullok, Jugah & Chin and started his law practice in Miri, Sarawak, in 1972.
The Sarawak-born Minister commenced his political career in 1986 , after retiring as a partner of the law firm. He has since held several positions, from Member of Parliament for Miri in Sarawak (1986-present) to Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Social Welfare (1986-1990), Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment (1990- 1995), and Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government (1995-1999).
