Herman is a Board Member of DEN, the National Energy Council of Indonesia representing the Renewable Energy Industry Stakeholder. He also serves as the Chairman of Indonesian National Committee of CIGRE, as the Director of International Geothermal Association, and as the Vice Chairman of Expert Board of Indonesian Renewable Energy Society.International Geothermal Association

For about 30 years from 1978 he worked with PLN the Indonesian National State Electricity Corporation. He achieved senior management position in the company as Director of PLN [2003-2008], and as Director of PT. Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of PLN [1998-2003].
