Mr Kumiaki Moriya is Corporate Chief Engineer for Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy Ltd. He has 35 years of experience in boiling water reactor (BWR) plant design, and has expertise in safety design and reactor thermal-hydraulics.

He developed the advanced boiling water reactor (ABWR) concept and completed Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Units No. 6 and 7, the first of its kind in the world. He is currently involved in developing future BWRs. He obtained a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from Tokyo University.
