Mr. Fujihara as the Deputy Director General, Global Energy Policy for Natural Resources and Energy, is responsible for international aspects of natural resources and energy policy including international cooperation for nuclear and thermal power.

Mr Fujihara started by joining the then Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) in 1986, and has worked in various international and internal policy fields including intellectual property, industry, environment and energy. From 2001 to 2004, he served as Counsellor, Embassy of Japan in Republic of Korea and engaged in the negotiation of Japan-Korea Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). From 2009 to 2013, he served as Counsellor, Mission of Japan to the European Union and lobbied EU organization and the government of member countries toward the launch of negotiation for Japan-EU EPA and realized the implementation of negotiation.
