Stuart Baird is the Operations Director at the European Marine Energy Centre. Stuart started his career as an Engineer in the Royal Navy and served 20 years in various roles. Since leaving the Royal Navy Stuart has been involved in the management of projects in various different industries including defence, communications, construction and the legal sector.

Since joining EMEC in 2009 he has been involved in supporting the deployments of all developers on all of EMEC’s sites. He was also responsible for the planned expansion of the main test sites including the planning, procurement and laying of over 11km of new cables establishing three new berths and the design and implementation of new scale test sites providing facilities for devices in more benign environments. Stuart has responsibility for ensuring that our operations are planned and executed in a safe and professional manner to meet agreed client objectives. He also deputises for the Managing Director in his absence and provides support in all operational aspects of our work.
