Ms Yukari Yamashita is at the vanguard of energy policy issues, holding key positions in relevant think tanks, programs, government councils, and committees. She is a regular moderator of panel sessions as well as a speaker on energy outlook, energy conservation and efficiency topics.
As Board Member for the Institute and Director in Charge of the Energy Data and Modelling Center, Ms Yamashita is responsible for quantitative analyses on energy policy issues. In the aftermath of the tsunami and nuclear incident, her team’s analyses contributed greatly to the electricity saving campaign and continue to this day to contribute to the national energy mix debate for Japan. She leads miscellaneous international and regional programs in the area of energy efficiency and conservation, energy modelling and demand analyses. Her counterparts include these at IEA, IPEEC, APEC, ERIA, China, Saudi Arabia, and Russia. She is a graduate of International Christian University (B.A.) and Master’s Program in Business Administration & Public Policy at University of Tsukuba (M.A.). She studied at University of Sussex (U.K.) as an exchange student with a government scholarship.
