Adrian Kemp is an economist with over 18 years of experience advising market participants, governments, and investors on regulatory and market developments affecting the energy, water and transport sectors.  He is an expert in the energy sector having advised in recent years on market power within wholesale and retail electricity markets, energy market developments related to renewable energy and battery storage, and on proposed changes to energy market design.

He is particularly interested in emerging energy market developments and understanding the implications for the power sector. These include reforms to market design, managing fuel price volatility, and developments in renewable generation and battery technology. He has been at the forefront of efforts to rethink the analysis and regulation of energy markets in light of these changes.

In 2014, Adrian co-founded HoustonKemp a firm dedicated to applying economic analysis to bring clarity and focus to complex problems arising in competition, finance, policy and regulation in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to this, Adrian spent almost ten years with NERA Economic Consulting and a period with the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of New South Wales, Australia.

Adrian holds a Masters in Economics from the Australian National University, a Bachelor of Economics with honours and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia.
